Reaction to President Bush's Medicare Rx Drug Proposal

Date: March 4, 2003
Issues: Drugs

Once again, the Bush Administration has offered a prescription drug plan that both undermines Medicare and fails to provide meaningful prescription drug assistance to our seniors.

The Bush proposal would force millions of seniors to leave the security of Medicare and the doctors they trust to receive prescription drug benefits through HMOs and other private plans that restrict access to needed drugs.

The only real choice for seniors and persons with disabilities should be a guaranteed Medicare prescription drug benefit that is available to all beneficiaries and seeks to lower drug prices for all.
